In 2014, the Lebanese Parliament approved a law aimed at protecting women and other members of the family from domestic violence and physical abuse. Parliament, however, included major amendments to the draft submitted by the National Coalition for a Law to Protect Women from Family Violence, a body composed of 41 different human rights organizations. While the coalition raised objections to the amended form of the law, they still considered its passing as “one of the most important achievements of the women's rights movement in Lebanon” (source: https://kafa.org.lb/en/node/19).
